Our Story
More than a place—it's where values are shaped and stories begin
The Beginning
Newe (neh ‘VEY) Place is more than a cul de sac in Mililani Town, Hawai‘i — it's where my parents and neighbors quietly model what it means to care for one another.
Newe Place, the brand, is my way of honoring that legacy. Through upcycled and resale clothing and accessories, I'm creating a space that reflects the same care and intentionality.
What started in a cul de sac in Hawai‘i continues today in my Seattle studio — just with more thread, fabric, and purpose.
Meet The Maker
How It Started
I'm Lorna — the hands and heart behind Newe Place. I've always made space for creativity in my life. It helps me see new perspectives, solve problems, and spark fresh ideas. I’m endlessly curious. I love old things and imagining the stories they might hold.
I learned to sew in elementary school, alongside three childhood friends. Our parents enrolled us in sewing school after summer school — partly to keep us busy, partly to keep us out of trouble. But for me, it was the beginning of something lifelong. Sewing scratched an itch I didn’t know I had. I was a daydreamer, a doodler, a storyteller. Sewing gave all that a shape.
Returning to what I love
After working in the tech industry, I came back to the work that brings me joy: transforming secondhand textiles into meaningful pieces. I'm passionate about honoring stories, repurposing what already exists, and making space for bodies, identities, and styles that are often overlooked in fashion.
Why Newe Place Matters
Newe Place is where I get to bring all of that together — a little patchwork, a little nostalgia, a lot of heart. Every item I make is sewn with intention, shaped by inspiration, and ready for a new adventure.
Handmade in my Seattle studio, each piece begins with a secondhand textile I’ve collected with care. Whether you’re here to browse, wear, or simply get inspired — I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
Every Piece, A Tribute
"At Newe Place, clothing is a way to honor what came before, celebrate what’s here now, and imagine what’s still possible. These values guide every decision — from fabric to fit to the stories we tell."
