Vintage Pareo Patchwork Jacket
A story sewn in color, memory, and imagination. Built around a vintage Tahitian pareo gifted by my brother, it centers on the image of a carefree island girl — a reflection of my childhood spent soaking in the sun, salt air, and trade winds.
Every element — teal palaka, modern floral cotton, and blue teal Tahitian pareo fragments cut by hand — was chosen for emotion as much as design. Each patch holds rhythm and reflection: a yearning for Hawai‘i, my birthplace, and my belief that fabric can hold memory.
The result is a one-of-a-kind upcycled jacket that merges heritage and modern artistry, transforming once-loved fabrics into wearable art that celebrates sustainability, identity, and imagination.
